I recently had a software problem with my Nokia C6 which happens to be a symbian s60 5th Edition phone, and the only solution to this is to flash/hard reset the phone.
I searched through the internet for a better way of hard reseting an s60 5th edition phones most especially touch screen phones (Nokia 5800, 5230, C6-00, C6-01, N97,etc), i got so many response but herein i will be sharing some different methods you can reset your symbian devices without the use of any flashing software.
Note: i will not be responsible for any damage in the course of applying this tricks; but i can assure you if you strictly adhere to the instructions i'm about to share, you will get a positive output.
Straight to the topic itself:
i. Make sure your battery is fully charged
ii. Back up your files, contact, messages on your memory card before you check out the following tricks.
Also note that the default security code of all nokia phones is ''12345''
1. RESTORING FACTORY SETTINGS
Some times your phone might encounter slight problem which you may need to reset the phone to the default settings. The code below will see you through: press on the stand by mode *#7780# it will prompt for security code, enter your security code and watch your phone restoring. This works on most if not all nokia phones.
2. HARD RESETING NOKIA SYMBIAN PHONES
This is totally different from the one above; in the sense that this will wipe away all settings, files, contact, messages, calender entries, etc.
The advantage of this over the one stated above is that it can correct most if not all errors on your device. Press in the stand by mode *#7370# it will also prompt for security code, enter your security code and it will restore your device
3. RESETING NOKIA PHONES THAT FAILS TO BOOT
The code in step2 above is useless here in the sense that it only works when your device is powered on. Did your phone fails to boot? And you think no hope unless you take it to the phone engineers. With the code i'm about to share there is hope.
Remove your sim card, hold the call key(green button), key 3, and the star key (*) at thesame time and then power on your phone while holding this three keys; hold it until you see the Nokia logo.
With this your device is restored and it will functions well.
4. RESETING NOKIA TOUCH SCREEN PHONES THAT FAILS TO BOOT(Nokia 5800, 5230, etc.)
With this you can reset touch screen phones like Nokia 5800 that has only 3 keypads.
All you need to do is; Remove your sim card, hold the camera key, call key (green key), end call key (red) at thesame time then switch it on. Hold until you see the nokia logo.
With this you are done!
5. RESETING NOKIA TOUCH SCREEN PHONES THAT FAILS TO BOOT (C6-00, C6-01, N97,NoKIa 500, etc)
This is applicable to touch screen phones as in: Nokia C6. That is phone with qwerty keypads.
Remove the sim card, hold the left shift key, the space bar, then the delete/clear button at the same time then power on your device. Hold untill you see the nokia logo.
With this you've just reset your device, shortly it will restart and load the default settings.
I hope you find this very useful?
